About this Experience / Cruise

Leave the marina, pass through the mangrove canals and cross the Arenales sandbanks before rounding Punta Cancun — the point where Cancun Bay meets the open Caribbean, separated by one of the area's best reefs. The water changes color completely at this point and the views back toward the Hotel Zone are unlike anything you'll see from shore.

We snorkel or swim at Punta Cancun if the current allows — it's a strong but rewarding spot with good reef life. From there we cruise along the Hotel Zone beachfront and stop at Presidente Beach for a calmer swim in sheltered waters before heading back. On the return leg a stop at the Arenales sandbanks is possible if you want one more dip.

Coming back through the mangrove canals keep your eyes open — this is prime territory for spotting sea turtles in the bay and the occasional alligator in the canals as the light fades.

A fresh lunch, soft drinks and open bar are included. This cruise works well in the morning or at sunset and pairs beautifully with the Laguna Nichupté experience if you want to combine both worlds in one day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Punta Cancun special from the water?+
Punta Cancun is the northern tip of the Hotel Zone where the Caribbean Sea meets Bahía de Mujeres — the color change in the water at this point is stunning and completely different from the lagoon side.
Will we see the Hotel Zone from the water?+
Yes — you get a unique perspective of Cancun's hotel zone from the sea, a view most visitors never experience.
Are the waves bigger here?+
Yes — this is where you feel the open ocean and the Caribbean current. Gentle movement, nothing extreme, but worth knowing if anyone in your group is sensitive to motion.
Can we stop and swim near Punta Cancun?+
Yes — we swim at Punta Cancun itself when the current allows, and Presidente Beach is the sheltered, calm-water swim stop on this cruise.
Are there good snorkeling spots near Punta Cancun?+
Yes — Punta Cancun reef and Presidente dock both have excellent smaller sea life, a great option for children.
Is this a good cruise for photography?+
All our cruises offer great photo opportunities. Action cameras and cellphones work best on board — salt water and humidity are not ideal for professional camera equipment.
